Louis Vuitton For Beginners - How to get into the luxury game

Louis Vuitton Alma BB in Monogram canvas
Now you might be thinking how on earth does this seventeen year old have any idea about the world of Louis Vuitton well I've been obsessed with the brand from such a young age and I'm a walking encyclopedia of information about all the ins and outs of purchasing from such a desirable brand.

When going to purchase your first ever luxury item it can be quite daunting because you want to make sure your buying the right item and are in love with it before splurging hundreds of pounds. Well I think there is several things to consider when entering the luxury market especially Louis Vuitton.

The brand is rich in history and from forming in 1854 from first introducing flat-bottoms trucks with their trade mark print known today as Monogram this brand is at the top and is known worldwide for its iconic canvas that is easily recognisable with carrying so much history. This brand has built a name for itself in the world of luxury and the brand is more than just its handbags, the craftsmanship of each product reflects the brand as well as its classic Monogram and brown Damier which were both introduced in the late 19th century. From starting in Paris,France the brand has transformed the luxury world and is now sold world wide throughout its stores.

Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM in Monogram
It is still such a iconic brand and that really reflects through its products. If your lusting after a Louis bag and are wanting to purchase one, you want to be content with your decision and know that you will use this bag for a very long time.
That's why a lot of people opt for the monogram canvas on some of its iconic bags: Speedy, Neverful, Noé and Alma. The Noé was born in 1932 with one purpose: to transport champagne. After a prominent champagne producer requested the bag to be able to hold five bottles of champagne. This iconic bag is the second oldest in the family and is available in two sizes; The 'Petitie Noé" and the "Noé". As well as the monogram canvas over the years it has seen seasonal leather and prints today is it is being sold in Epi Leather.

The Speedy especially is one of the most iconic bags and is well thought after, it was one of the first bags released in the late 1930's and it was made a timeless bag when Audrey Hepburn was seen with one in the 1960's. after this the bags fate was sealed and it remains incredibly popular to this day and it is still one of the most purchased bags in Louis Vuitton history. That's worth noting if your wanting to purchase a bag like this, you know that it always going to be iconic and is definitely worth the investment. Not only are you buying a bag to love yourself but if you do end up going onto the resale marketing hoping to sell this bag then you will have endless offers. Their resale value is stable and well maintained especially if its in a limited edition leather but even good condition Monogram and Damier canvas bags remain high on the market.

My first Louis Vuitton purchase was in 2012 when I saved up to buy the Neverfull mm in Monogram canvas, at that time it was £550 after it had its price increase a week before i purchased it. Now that same bag is selling for £920 after having it's annual price increases and has now had some slight changes, with your bag now you get a removable zipper clutch which can be carried as a pochette (another classic LV item which can be sold separately). The inside of the bag has changed and they now offer three textile linings: Pivoine, Cherry and beige which is darker than the older models. I think this change justifies the price increase as well as the fact the bag is still iconic and a classic for any Louis Vuitton collector and is a bag that I still love today. Personally I think its a great bag to enter the luxury world with, you can really fit your whole life into that bag and is true to its name because it is never full. It is definitely worth every penny because it truly will last you a life time if you take care with it.

When I'm lusting after a Louis Vuitton item I always do loads of reasearch, I read blogs, watch videos and stalk the Louis Vuitton website to make sure I really love the item. There are so great websites about all the ins and outs of each item if you are looking for a particular item that I haven't mentioned on here. I hope that I've past on some of my knowledge about the brand and its products and have helped you pick your perfect item.
