Met Gala 2019 theme reveal: " Camp Notes On Fashion"

The New York Metropolitan Museum of Art has announced its theme for next years Met Gala and it promises to be far from subtle, the biggest event in the fashion calendar is going to be even better than last years theme " Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination."

Entitled "Camp: Notes on Fashion"the theme drawing on a 1964 Susan Sontag essay that describes camp as "love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration".  A total of 175 objects, including womenswear and menswear from the 17th century to the present will be shown at the Costume Institute exhibition.

 Pop icon Lady Gaga, singer Harry Styles and Gucci director Alessandro Michele along with Vogue's editior-in-chief Anna Wintour will serve as co-chairs. Parts of the show will demonstrate how the royal courts of Louis XIV and Louis Xv embraced the concept of camp with it origins dating back to the European and American subcultures in the late 19th to early 20th century. Donatella Versace, Marc Jacobs and Jeremy Scott and many others will have their work displayed.
